I Can Read is created by educational psychologists with the following qualification: Ph.D, BA, MA, Hons, DipEd, Master of Letters, Literature and Psychology majors, whose thesis are based on research into reading acquisition and with over 15 years of fieldwork.

The I Can Read reading programme teaches students to combine letters and create invariant sounds, empowering them to take control of their progress. The I Can Read reading programme helps new readers overcome initial struggles such as combining letters into blended sounds. Knowing how to pronounce words is key to overcoming this. Our students start with simple, straightforward words and then progress to more difficult phoneme combinations, building upon their successes word by word.
ICR Academy’s Primary Curriculum is designed for students to build a strong foundation in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Through clear instruction, guided practice, independent application, and continuous evaluation, students focus on all 4 essential skills. The exercises and activities stimulate their creativity while preparing them for exams. These techniques and exercises will prove essential when they undertake the PSLE.

The lessons are engaging and Teacher Alana is not only knowledgeable but also genuinely caring and attentive to each child’s needs. My daughter loves singing her good morning songs and looks forward to her lessons every week. I've noticed significant improvements in her reading and speaking skills. Most importantly, she has developed a love for reading books, which I believe is a result of the centre's supportive and motivating approach to learning. Standard dropping. Both my kids attended icr from age of 4.5. The elder one progressed much faster and the younger one much slower. Pretty sure it is not because of... Read more one much slower. Pretty sure it is not because of the learning ability, but it looks like a deliberate attempt to slow their progress so that the kids stay on at icr longer. This is because most kids leave icr one they mastered a certain level. Also, this centre only allows kids to enter the premise 5 mins before class begins. Ive not seen other enrichment centre do this. Most centres can hold children 15 mins before.

My daughter has been enrolled in the I Can Read program at the West Coast Center for several months now. Today, I discovered that there is a software program available... Read more Today, I discovered that there is a software program available for her to practice phonics and reinforce the lessons she learns in class every day. I was both surprised and disappointed that no one from the center informed us about this valuable resource, which could have greatly benefitted her learning progress. Upon bringing this issue to the staff's attention, I was further disheartened by their lack of empathy and unwillingness to take responsibility for the oversight. Rather than offering a sincere apology, they attempted to evade the topic, which left me questioning their commitment to my daughter's education. I am concerned about the quality of the center's administration, as their lack of communication and accountability has negatively impacted my daughter's growth. It is crucial that parents be given all the necessary information and support to ensure their children's success in the program. I hope that the center will address these issues and improve their communication, accountability, and customer service going forward, as I believe the program has great potential to enhance my daughter's reading abilities.
