Berries World of Learning School @ Stars at Kovan
Description
In 1993, the first Berries World of Learning School was founded with a mission to teach Chinese to children in a way that is as exciting as it is educational. We believe in the power of a Fun-Filled, Multi-Sensory approach. Through our innovative and interactive teaching methods, we blend the worlds of fun and education, crafting an experience we like to call ‘Serious Fun’. Over the past few decades, Berries has grown to over 20 outlets across the island. As we move forward, we anticipate continuing our mission to nurture the children of tomorrow.
At Berries, our vision extends beyond just mastering the Chinese language. We also instill essential life values in children. Through the journey of learning Chinese, we hope to inspire children to become better versions of themselves everyday, to radiate more light and warmth in the world they grow up in today.
Berries World of Learning School is dedicated to creating an educational ‘paradise’ that transcends conventional language learning. Our goal is to curate a holistic and fulfilling experience for children by unravelling the mystery and beauty of Chinese language and culture.

Laoshis are very caring with my child who was crying for the first trial lesson. The staff also properly communicate with the people outside regarding the entry and dismissal procedure... Read more with the people outside regarding the entry and dismissal procedure before and after class. Children got a gift at the end of the lesson that my child was attending for trial last week.

First few lessons were most daunting for the child at 3yo, I think mainly cuz we dont speak English at home and it was really a culture shock. Furthermore guardians... Read more home and it was really a culture shock. Furthermore guardians are reframed from entering the classroom with the child. But by the 3-4th lesson, my boy started to really enjoy the lesson. For N1 class, the teachers gave out very small toys directly related to what was taught in class. Could be a keychain, or just a cheap toy but they worked wonders. My boy started to be more willing to speak Mandarin. I think one of the key factor is also that the teacher talks patiently and is experienced when handling young children. Going to sign my boy up for N2 and see how it goes.

My daughter attended her first lesson today and honestly the reception is extremely disappointing. We reached approx 30min before lesson time and wanted to check out which classroom or unit is... Read more and wanted to check out which classroom or unit is her lesson at. To which the receptionist asked if we registered. How would we know what is the internal process like when it’s our first visit so we could only reply that we have paid and was told to just wait outside. When the time was up, first time N1 kids were all wailing and they were just being led to the classroom with doors closed. I dont expect them to be coaxed one by one but the entire scene could really be improved. After the lesson, the teacher merely told us “oh your daughter is ok”. No further details on how we would receive the lesson feedback. We have also no idea if we needed to bring the entrie bag with all the materials inside and what do we use it for. I would want to believe that the class itself is quite interesting for my child as she came out telling me about the class and would want to attend again. However, the overall management and orientation is just as good as non existent.

Bad first impression during trial class with my daughter. She is extremely introverted and I felt deeply disturbed by the reception staff who brought her to her class. When my... Read more reception staff who brought her to her class. When my girl started to cry, the staff just pushed her in to the teachers and closed the door behind her, probably expecting me to be ok to walk away knowing my child is wailing inside. I feel that they could have done more to assure parents and children attending class for the first time. Being in the education industry, I expected the staff to understand that by ignoring a frightened child’s cries they are causing them to feel abandoned and may resent any future classes even more. I’m appalled to say the least. Update: Met with the teacher at the end of the class and she gave off nurturing vibes. She provided me with detailed feedback which I appreciate deeply. My child said she did enjoy the class and would like to return for more lessons. Appreciate the center in charge, Ms Shi Ting calling to clarify and assure us that drop off for future trial classes will be looked into. Thank you for following up, great recovery!
