The weekly current affairs section is a standout feature, keeping my daughter informed about global events, especially since she doesn't regularly read the news. She has grown more confident and better at the subject, showing how the program has been both effective and impactful.

Attended the JC GP Tuition, was not fully satisfied with how subsequent lessons after the trial were conducted and their general lesson plan. Not to mention you are unable to... Read more general lesson plan. Not to mention you are unable to get a refund if you sign up for multiple terms, which is in my opinion a predatory business tactic. So what are the Pros of studying in Indigo? 1. Resources provided are of good quality, model essays for examples are very detailed and have good language 2. Novel ideas on how to approach GP as a subject, what initially drew me to sign up in the first place. They use structures and essay planning methods that are seemingly distinct from what is taught in schools. Now on to the Cons. 1. Resources may be of good quality, but in actual fact are just model essays churned out by a large team of teachers. There are good examples you can apply in your own essays, however the lesson is 15 minutes of planning the essay yourself and only 45minutes of actual "teaching" on how to answer the Essay question, which usually is just the teacher planning the question themselves. Your 15 minutes of planning effectively is just a time sink, you are not learning or being engaged by the planning exercise as you would eventually follow the "model answer" anyways. The rest of the teaching involves running through the Model Essay prepared by the teaching staff, and this is genuinely not very productive as all they are doing is pointing out parts of the essay to highlight or underline, and briefly reading out the essay. In the time you spend highlighting words, and writing little notes they instruct you to on the side, you are too preoccupied with the motions to actually absorb anything. You feel productive in the moment looking at the scribbles and coloring on your notes, but all you are left with is a colorful piece of paper with some annotations here and there, when you personally have not even had the time to read the essay itself. 2. Novelty, is actually a big detriment. It is similar to all those keto diets, primal diets, vegan gluten free diets that promise you renewed health, and you believe it because its a novel idea and make some amount of logical sense. However I do not believe that memorising 8 sets of 10 letter long acronyms really nurtures the critical thinking required for GP. Unless you have genuinely 0 aptitude for GP, and you have to follow a step by step template to form a coherent sentence, I don't see how these acronyms help you. They are simply a substitute for actually teaching how to derive and structure your thoughts. The truth is that many teachers are just fresh graduates Indigo hires, and puts through a likely 3 week long workshop to learn their "unique teaching style", and have limited actual teaching experience. 3. Feedback and tutor attention. The way Indigo is structured, is to decrease the amount of work each teacher has to put in as much as possible, with purely Lecture based format and limited constructive personal input from tutors. Even marking of papers in their ala-carte service takes 14 days minimally, and you often need to remind them after 14 days if you still don't receive your paper, upon which they send it to you within the day. Yet the quality of feedback is hardly worth the 14 day wait. Essay marking is noticeably low-effort, and teachers instead offset their work to just ticking boxes in a pre-written Rubric provided by Indigo. Very little insight is provided, and zoom consultations are limited to 50minutes a week. At the price they are charging, $130/lesson, this is not a worthwhile spend. A one-to-one tutor even one that's just a student, would undeniably be magnitudes more helpful in improving your grades. Overall, I wouldn't say the GP tuition is completely useless as the resources are genuinely decent. However considering the price-point and the opportunity cost, is it really worth it to pay $130 for one handout a week? There are only so many exam hacks or industry secret insights on Cambridge exam setting. My honest advice, if you are an active learner that values your time and money, review your options carefully.
